I was looking at my new iPhone 7 with the black front and noticed an extra sensor to the right of the light sensor. But I can not see it on my wife's white front iPhone 7 at all.
Does the black front have an extra proximity or light sensor?

This is a late reply, but my guess would be the white bezel allows enough light through to let the ambient light sensor work — so it can be covered over and therefore appear invisible. But the black bezel is too opaque so requires an extra hole.
I never thought about it like that, your right though that has to be what it is. I literally can't find answers or info about it anywhere else on the net lol. Thanks for the reply.
I understand what you are saying. The smaller sensor is the combined Proximity/ALS sensor, and the larger sensor located in the middle of the speaker is actually a second camera brought to you by our government spy agencies!
I know exactly what you are talking about and can't find an answer anywhere... my wife got the rose gold 7plus and I have the matte black 7plus and there is clearly another sensor on the black one. There is the camera to the left of the speaker and two censors above the speaker on the black one... what is the smaller one for? The smaller one is not on my wife's white front 7 plus.....
This would seem like the truth but if you actually look a black faced 7plus and a white faced 7 plus you can clearly see what appears to be an extra sensor on the black one and not the white one.... the link you shared doesn't help at all.
The hardware is indeed identical regardless of the bezel color. Believe what you like, but the color does not change the hardware.
Every iphone 7 regardless of color has, near the ear piece speaker, a front facing camera, an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor.
You might have miss understood me. The sensor I mentioned was not even listed in that link. The light sensor is above the speakeR. On the white front it is clear present. On the black face phone it is still visible just harder to see. Now on the black faced phone just to the left of that there is a smaller circle much like the light sensor above the speaker. This is not present on the white front phone. If you do not have the iPhone 7 black front and a white front then you mught not be able to answer this question because you have not seen this yet. Thanks for the effort.

The reason for what? There are no differences, none, in the hardware of the devices with different bezel colors.
